Muchos relatan la historia del metal cristiano de
manera superficial, a continuación vamos a profundizar un pocos más a
cerca del origen de este estilo musical. Esta escrito (Colosenses
1:15-17) “ 15 El es la imagen del Dios invisible, el primogénito de
toda la creación. 16 porque en él fueron creadas todas las cosas, las
que hay en los cielos y las que hay en la tierra, visibles e
invisibles; sean tronos, sean dominios, sean principados, sean
potestades; todo fue creado por medio de él y para él. 17 Y él es antes
de todas las cosas; y todas las cosas a el subsisten“. ¿A quien se
refiere esta escritura? Por supuesto que a Jesús de Nazaret, el Cristo
(Mesías o Ungido), al cordero de Dios que quita los pecados del mundo,
al único Camino a Dios Padre, al único verdadero y a la única garantía
de vida eterna; en resumen JESUCRISTO.

Como
fruto del propósito soberano de Dios para que se cumpla la profecía de
Jesucristo relatada en el evangelio de Mateo 24:14 “Y será predicado el
evangelio del Reino en todo el mundo; para testimonio a todas las
naciones, y entonces vendrá el fin”; uno de los instrumentos que el
esta utilizando (a parte del transmisiones vía satélites, literatura,
cine, etc.) es la música, la cual fue creada por el y para el; es
utilizada como instrumento de evangelización para alcanzar a los
inconversos y de edificación para de los cristianos. Es por eso que a
finales de la década de los 60's con el auge del Rock and Roll un señor
llamado Larry Norman se convierte en uno de los pioneros en mezclar el
sonido del Rock and Roll con letras cristianas. Cabe señalar que en ese
entonces la gran mayoría de la juventud Norteamericana estaba envuelta
en el movimiento “Hippie” donde la atracción de los jóvenes se
encontraba en la libertad sexual, drogas y la música Rock and Roll.
Mientras Satanás trabajaba en su plan malvado de destruir la juventud,
Dios se dispuso también mediante músicos cristianos y pastores a crear
un nuevo avivamiento, llamado “JESUS MOVEMENT”. Producto de este
movimiento a principio de los 70's comenzó la influencia para que
iniciaran bandas dentro del Hard Rock a proclamar las buenas nuevas de
salvación a través de Jesucristo para aquella juventud de esos días.

La primera agrupación Norteamericana que experimento dentro de lo que es el Rock Pesado (Hard Rock) llamada Resurrection Band
(REZ) inicia en la primavera del año 1972 encabezada por Glenn Kaiser
(el cual estaba atrapado por las drogas y luego de varias sobredosis y
varios intentos de suicidio, finalmente tuvo un encuentro con el Señor
Jesucristo y fue liberado). En 1978 hacen su debut con la producción “ Awaiting your reply ”
con influencias en el sonido de Led Zeppelin; siendo influencia para
las bandas de Hardrock/Metal cristianas que habían de venir mas
adelante.

En esta misma década (70's) en la
zona norte de Europa, específicamente en Suiza un joven llamado Ulf
Christiansson forma una banda llamada Jerusalem la
cual proclamaba a Jesús radicalmente, a pesar de la resistencia de
muchas iglesias que no aceptaban la idea de que la música rock pudiera
servir de instrumento para Dios, ya que la consideraban como música
diabólica. Pero Ulf Christiansson sabía que el Hardrock era la mejor
manera de llevar el mensaje cristiano a los jóvenes en su propio
lenguaje. “Una noche una señora mayor se acerco a ellos luego de un
concierto para pedirles perdón, ella contaba que se sintió
terriblemente mal y decepcionada cuando empezaron a tocar. Ella pensó
en tomar su cartera y salir del lugar. Pero entonces fue cuando vio que
el mismo Jesús caminaba desde la tarima hacia ella, y se sentó en
frente de ella y le dijo: Estos chicos son míos. Las lagrimas corrían
de los ojos de ella mientras les contaba lo que había pasado.”

En 1978 lanzan su primera producción discográfica titulada “ Volumen 1 ”
, la cual tuvo gran pegada en Suiza, y una muy buena venta, tanto así
que las personas de las tiendas de música Gospel quedaban sorprendidas
por la demanda de una música pesada como esta.

Pasando a la década de los 80's nos encontramos con la agrupación Stryper
(llamada anteriormente Roxx Regime) quienes se formaron en 1983 para
luego ser los primeros en popularizar el Rock Pesado Cristiano; En 1984
con la producción “ The Yellow and Black Attack ”
sacan el metal cristiano del plano Underground para ponerlo en el mapa
y todo el mundo pueda verlo. Las personas se sorprendían al ver como
una banda de metal tiraba Bíblias al público y tocaba ya la vez
verdadero metal. En este mismo año debido a la gran cantidad de de
agrupaciones de Rock Pesado que surgían del Underground, se marco el
nacimiento del termino Heavy Metal Cristiano. Surge también en este
mismo año la revista “ Heaven's Metal Magazine ” debido al crecimiento de la escena del Metal Cristiano.

En 1986 fue el año donde se formó el primer sello disquero exclusivo para el Metal Cristiano llamado “ Pure Metal ” del cual formaron para agrupaciones como Saint, Bride y Whitecross . En 1987 se realizó el primer Festival de Metal Cristiano llamado “ The Metal Mardi Gras ”
el cual tuvo lugar en Long Beach California. A la medida que el sonido
se iba intensificando en 1988 muchos sellos seculares no querían firmar
bandas de Metal Cristiano por las letras, así mismo sellos Cristianos
no querían contratar bandas de Metal Cristianos porque sonaban muy
pesadas; fruto de este conflicto surge Intense Records en el cual muchas de las mejores agrupaciones firmaron con el, dentro de las cuales se pueden mencionar Scred Warrior, Vengeance Rising, Deliverance (Speed Metal) y Bloodgood .
En 1989 Dino Elephante y John Elephante (Ex - Kansas) tenían un estudio
y con el deseo de promocionar bandas cristianas comenzaron el sello
disquero llamado Pakaderm Records del cual formaron parte agrupaciones como X-Sinner , Guardian , Mastedon , etc. En esta década también se destacaron bandas como Levitius, Joshua, Angelica, Rage of Angels, Shout, Believer (Thrash Progresivo) entre otras.

En
los 90's a medida que el Heavy Metal Evolucionaba en el sonido de la
misma manera evolucionaba el Metal Cristiano, en 1991 se da a conocer
la agrupación australiana Mortification con el primer álbum de Death Metal Cristiano, “ Mortification ”,
esta producción fue extremadamente brutal en sonido. En este mismo año
se da a conocer la banda más popular de Thrash Metal Progresivo
Cristiana llamada Tourniquet con el álbum “ Psycho Surgery ”. En 1994 surge la primera banda de Black Metal Cristiano (En sonido) llamada Horde con la producción “ Hellig Usvart ”. En este año Steve Rowe líder de Mortification con el anhelo de ayudar a las futuras agrupaciones de Hardrock/Metal Cristiano en Australia, decide fundar el sello Rowe Productions .

En el 1997 la agrupación liderada por Christian Lijegren llamada Narnia tiene su debut con el álbum “ Awakening ”, con un sonido Melódico extraordinario.

En
1998 hace su debut una de las mas destacadas y originales agrupaciones
dentro de la escena del Metal Cristiano Europeo, nos referimos a los
Noruegos Extol con su producción llamada “ Burial ”.

Hoy
en día contamos con cientos de bandas de Hardrock/Metal Cristiano
alrededor del mundo destacándose en todos los sub-estilos del Heavy
Metal (Gothic, Melodic, Progressive, Symphonic, Thrash, Speed, Doom,
Glam, Harcore, Nu, etc.…) y a la vez llevando el mensaje de salvación
de nuestro Señor JESUCRISTO, hasta su venida….!!!!

DEFINICION DE HEAVY METAL CRISTIANO

El
metal Cristiano, también conocido como White Metal, es el producto de
combinar todos los sub-estilos en sonido del Heavy Metal (Gothic,
Melodic, Progressive, Symphonic, Thrash, Speed, Doom, Glam, Harcore,
Nu, Black, Death, etc.…) con letras claras y especificas del mensaje
del evangelio de Jesucristo, ya sea para evangelización de los
inconversos o para edificación de los cristianos.

Este fue uno de los especiales lanzados por VH1 hace algún tiempo, recopilando las que según ellos conforman las 40 mejores canciones del Heavy Metal de todos los tiempos

En mi opinión personal me parece que el top este esta muy bien hecho y da en el clavo en mas de una vez, claro que a la final las mejores 40 varían según cada quien, pero mínimo habran unas canciones aqui que te haran sacudir la cabeza
